mid-day make over

I woke up this morning and it was already looking like it was going to be a bad day. The alarm clock read 7:54. I felt as though I hadn't even slept for 5 minutes and I was already running super late! I had 10 minutes before I needed to shower, get dressed and rush out of the house to catch my train to get to school. I missed my train and waited for 30 minutes to catch the next train. By the time I got to school it was already my third period class, Physics, which happened my absolute least favorite. "Pop Quiz, class!" shouted Mr.Von Baale, my teacher. Just my luck. At that point my stomach was really regretting not grabbing breakfast. I just hoped my lunch would be extra good today.

Finally after Physics and my next 2 classes I had my lunch period. After eating my lunch, I walked over to the local CVS and decided I needed some candy to get me through the rest of the day. As soon as I walked down the candy aisle I saw exactly what I needed. There it was, a huge box of Nerds with my two favorite flavors, Strawberry and Grape, in one box. I immediately picked it up and couldn't check out fast enough. I wanted to eat those Nerds! I knew I'd need the whole box so I could get focused and energized for the rest of the day.

As I got back to school I ran into my friend, Victoria in the music lab and I asked her if she wanted some Nerds too. "How could I say no to Nerds?", She replied. As we ate the candy together there were nothing but smiles on our faces. With each little piece and crunch the smiles and laughter grew. It was almost like we were in a movie, as we were eating I could hear the faint tune of Janglin' by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtH8m_i8O7k). I was sure soon we'd be transported into a field of dancing flowers and happiness pretty soon! The Nerds brought a euphoria to my bad day and made both of our days better.

Through out the rest of our day, Victoria and I were all smiles. Some people said we looked like we were glowing we were in such a good mood! We got through our classes like a breeze. By the end of the day our good mood and rubbed off on everyone and we'd been asked a few times why we were in such a good mood. "It's in the Nerds. They make us feel great" we said together. After school we walked passed the CVS on our way home and saw lots of our friends checking out with a box of Nerds in hand. In the end, what started to be a horrible day completely turned around to be one of the best day ever, thanks to my Nerds

care package experiment

So I finally got to open the "mystery package" which was exciting. It was fun to see every thing inside it. (video above!)

Brand One: Wonka Nerds
 a) I picked the Nerds first because out of all of the different candies, those are my favorites. I also thought is was cool how the box had two flavors in one box.
 b) Nerds look like little rocks and they come in different flavors and depending on the flavor they're different colors like purple for grape etc.
 c)  i.The perfect occasion for eating Nerds is when I want not too much candy but more than a little bit.
ii.When I think of Nerds it reminds me of my Mom because it's one of her favorite candies.
iii. eating this candy makes me feel happy! It reminds me of my childhood- when I'd get little oxes of Nerds for Valentine's Day or Halloween.
iv. The kind of people who eat this brand the most are kids.
v.The music that goes along with eating this brand is Janglin' by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. It has a happy, bouncy sound that I think goes well with the feeling of eating Nerds.

Brand Two: Starbursts
 a) I chose these because I LOVE Starburst (The pink and orange are my favorites c: )
 b) Starbursts are little chewy squares, fruit flavors, they're sweet but not too sweet. They have a tangy flavor too.
 c) i. The Perfect occasion for eating Starburst is when you're on the go because you can put them in your purse and just get one out at a time. They're easy to eat, no mess!
ii. When I think of Starburst it reminds me of shining stars
iii. Eating this candy makes me feel like I'm being transported to a tropical paradise.
iv. The kind of people that eat this brand are sweet people!
     v. The music that goes along with eating this brand is Firework by Katy Perry

Brand Three: Baby Bottle Pop

 a) I chose the Baby Bottle Pop because it's so cute!
 b) Baby Bottle Pops look like mini baby bottles but the top part is a lollipop and inside is a sugary powder where there would normally be liquid in a real bottle.
 c) i. The perfect time for a Baby Bottle Pop is when you want something classic like a lollipop with a little twist- the powder.
ii. When I think of Baby Bottle Pop I think of their commercial. The jingle is really catchy!
iii. Eating this candy makes me feel like a baby- reminds me of being a little kid.
iv. The kind of people who eat this candy are goofy!
      v. The music that goes along with eating this brand is the Baby Bottle Pop jingle!

Brand Four: Skittles
 a) I choose the Skittles because the bag seemed really full.
 b) Skittles is like "tasting the rainbow"- just like the commerical says- they're all different flavors and pretty colors.
 c) i. The perfect occasion for eating skittles is when you want something fruity.
ii. When I think of skittles I think of my friend in junior high who ate Skittles almost everyday.
iii. Eating this candy makes me feel relaxed.
iv. The kind of people who eat this candy are friendly.
      v. The music that goes along with eating this brand is island music with Caribbean drums!!!

I was so happy when the "scientist" told me I could have a candy of my choice right then. I was almost drooling with all that yummy candy in my lap.
I would have left the LifeSavers Gummy Sours in the box last because I've never had them before and I didn't know how sour they'd be. I had never had the LifeSaver Sour gummies before but, I would definately try them (which I did later and they were really good!) The Sour Patch Kids I have had before and at first I didn't like them because they were too sour but they grew on me. I ended up liking the Life Saver gummies better then the Sour Patch Kids the LifeSavers texture was better to me then the Sour Patch Kids.
I like the texture of the LifeSavers and the variety of colors/flavors in the package. I didn't like how they stuck together so much. I liked all the fruity flavors
I like the way the Sour Patch Kids start sour and then turn sweetin your mouth. I don't like the harder texture and I've never really been comfortable how they look like kids. That's weird...
I would eat either candy at the same place, school. At lunch, from the vending machiene, after school at the grocery or the drug store.

candy time!

To get my candy I decided to go to Party City because they have a HUGE selection of all sorts of candies. I was super excited to go, I mean, how often to you get five dollars and get told you need to buy candy with it? So on the way there I had no idea what I wanted so I was happy to have such a huge selection.
This is just before I started picking my candy. Just look at all those choices!!

I immediately saw some of my favorite mini chocolate bars and had a few of those.

I'm a huge fan of Junior Mints because of the cool, minty taste they leave after you've had a few. I'd never seen Junior Mints like this so I had to try these!

Another favorite of mine- Starburst! I love the sweet yet tangy flavor and texture of them. The colors always catch my eye as well.

As soon as I saw they had Pop Rocks I couldn't resist. I vividedly remembered enjoying them as a child. The sweet taste and the feeling of the rocks 'popping' in my mouth and the sounds it made.

Look at all this stuff I got!!! Yay!

I shared some with my Mom in the car and we decided to save some for later :)

After the trip I was really happy with my choices. I got all different types; chewy, crunchy, minty, chocolatey sour and sweet. It was a fun trip and my Mom and I both had a good time together.

about me :)

Hello! My name is Paige. I am sixteen and currently in my junior year of high school. I really enjoy Literature the most out of all my classes. I have a great teacher and I love to write and read! After school on some days I got to and opera program for teens. Every other semester we study and preform a different opera/ operetta. This semester we're studying "Pirates of Penzance", which I am really excited about.
Singing is my biggest passion. I love the way it feels when I preform and I love the affect music has on other people. I'm hoping to study Music Therapy in college to share what I love so much with other people and help them too. Some other hobbies of mine include horseback riding and photography.

I've been riding horses as long as I can remember. I think they are one of the most regal and beautiful creatures there are. The feeling I have when I ride "my" (He isn't really mine but the one I ride constantly. I wish he was!) horse, Leo (on the left), is indescribable. It's like a feeling of absolute freedom but we're still connected. I've picked up photography over the last two years. My camera goes everywhere with me. Not only do I love just documenting my life but I love capturing the beauty of everyday life.

This is a bit old but, one of my favorite pictures of my Mom and Dad. I'm so lucky to have such beautiful, kind, and supportive parents. I happy that we have such a strong relationship. I can really tell them anything.

The lovely lady on the left is one of my closest friends, Teresana. Not only is she beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well.

This is my other closest friend, Savannah. She's been there for me                                                                                through think and thin and is the closest thing I have to a sister.

My cat, Cookie, is quite honestly my best friend. She's always there and a great listener :)

I think of myself as a very open person. I'm kind, loving and fun. I try to be positive all the time and be thankful for what I have and the opportunities I'm given. I think my friends would agree.
If I were a candy I think I'd be like a Nerds Rope in the way that there are a lot of little pieces that make up who I am.
